Salt Lake City, Utah

Miles driven today: 518
Hours on the road: 8 (ish)
Hotel: Homewood Suites

We could not believe the weather when we stepped out of the hotel this morning - it was so cold and windy! It was quite impressive to look out on the freeway and see the tumbleweed racing along almost as fast as the cars.
Once on the freeway we realized how windy it really was. It took a lot of concentration to keep the car going in straight line - add to that the tumbleweed coming towards us from all directions. Phil observed that it was a bit like being in space and hitting an asteroid belt. I got a few "asteroids" stuck in my front grill....

We arrived in Salt Lake City around 8pm. The temperature was reading 59 degrees, but it felt more like minus 59! It was so cold.....brrrrr!
Getting stuck in the elevator was the major excitement of the evening.....not for long....probably less than a minute before it restarted again. It seemed a lot longer and it was interesting to see how quickly people began to look worried....!!

Reno Baby....!

Pacifica

Our journey begins at Rockaway Beach, Pacifica, CA.

We arrived in the afternoon just in time to unpack and take a walk down to see the beautiful West Coast sunset.

The Holiday Inn Express is fantastically located right on the beach front.

That evening we ate dinner at Nick's which is a very short walk from the hotel. The place doesn't really look anything from the outside, or even the inside for that matter. It actually reminded me of a 1970's working men's club with it's bar at the edge of the retro dance floor and shabby looking carpets all around. I am so happy that I got over my first impression and sat down to eat. The food was just AMAZING! I had one of the specials which was snapper with crab meat............yum!!
